Learn new skills, meet local artisans, explore Malawi and help support the next generation of healthcare workers.
Art Safari Malawi is a unique 14-day journey combining creativity, culture, nature and community. From beadwork and pottery to wood carving, textiles and soap making, you’ll take part in hands-on workshops while travelling through some of Malawi’s most beautiful places.
More than just a holiday, every workshop helps support local artisans and communities, while funds raised through the tour contribute to Medic to Medic, providing scholarships for trainee healthcare workers in Malawi.

Create, explore and make a difference
Over two weeks, you’ll experience Malawi through the people who live and create there.
You’ll learn traditional and contemporary skills directly from local makers, visit markets, galleries and communities, explore tea estates and ancient rock art, and experience some of Malawi’s spectacular landscapes and wildlife.
Along the way, there’s plenty of time to slow down too — from yoga and free time beside Lake Malawi to a safari in Liwonde and walks around Mulanje.
It’s a chance to experience Malawi in a more personal way while directly supporting the people and communities you meet.

Your 14-day journey
Blantyre & Southern Malawi
Arrive in Blantyre before beginning the tour with a rag rug workshop and walk at Mount Soche.
Over the following days, you’ll visit local art galleries, try beadwork, explore a local market for colourful chitenje fabric and take part in a tailoring class.
You’ll also visit Satemwa Tea Estate for tea tasting and lunch, visit a village and join a local cooking class.
Mulanje
After a soap-making workshop, travel to the spectacular Mulanje region.
Spend the following day exploring the area with a waterfall hike and a visit focused on local wood carving.
Liwonde & Lake Malawi
Continue to Liwonde for a safari followed by a relaxed sip-and-paint experience.
From there, travel to Cape Maclear on Lake Malawi, where you'll have two days for yoga, free time and the chance to enjoy one of Malawi's most beautiful settings.
Dedza & Lilongwe
At Dedza, discover another side of Malawi's creative culture through briquette making, pottery painting, hiking and a pottery factory tour.
On the journey towards Lilongwe, you'll also visit rock art and enjoy a short story reading before spending your final night in Malawi.
The tour concludes in Lilongwe, where you'll depart on Friday.

This means much of the practical side of travelling through Malawi is organised for you, leaving you free to enjoy the experience.
Small groups, personal experiences
Tours run with a minimum of two participants, with groups of around four people ideal.
Keeping groups small allows for a more personal experience and gives participants the opportunity to spend meaningful time with the artisans, communities and organisations visited during the journey.
